West Coast Destinations
You need to consider the west coast and all it has to offer. Driving up Pacific Coast Highway has always been a dream of mine, and it’s easy! Map out your route after starting in either Washington State or Southern California. The drive will take between 3-10 days, depending upon how many stops you make along the way. It also depends on how far you want to travel up the coast. Your timeframe and what you’d like to see will determine your trip up the coast.
Check out the most breathtaking coastline in the United States, along with many historical stops. For example, the Santa Barbara Mission is an easy 2 hour stop full of history. Solvang is another fun site to see along the way and touts itself as the “Danish Capital in America.” Drive to your heart’s content and really experience California and the west coast.
Southern Charm
You have a lot of opportunity living near the East Coast, to experience day trips to historic cities. Have you checked out Atlanta, Charleston, or Wilmington for a summer getaway? Furthermore, the beaches on the Atlantic coast are always warmer than the west’s Pacific Ocean. Planning a beach getaway is easy with travel opening up more and competitive rates this summer. Chicago
Chicago deserves a stand-alone mention for many reasons for your summer plans. From museums to waterfront fun, Chicago has it all. The Museum of Science and Industry on the Southside is a must see this summer. The museum boasts rotating exhibits for all ages and hands-on fun for the entire family. The Art Institute of Chicago hosts extraordinary artists and free admission days to check out before you plan your trip. Boat rentals and other water sports are available on the shores of Lake Michigan in the heart of Chicago. Check out a diverse city in the heart of America.
